Animation Project
The final project for this class is an animation done in Photoshop. I took a ~15 second long video of my dog running away and then back towards me. Then I split the video into layers using photoshop and manually drew her in each frame. Admittedly, my hand drawing is not particularly good. My hands shake from medication I have to take and it makes drawing both difficult and makes my hands fatigue very quickly, meaning the project simply took me a lot of hours. Taking all of this into consideration I’m really pleased with my final product. I think the animation itself is very smooth and the drawings of the dog ended up being cute.
Autoscopy Project
The Autoscopy project asked us to use Adobe Photoshop to produce some sort of distortion on our self image into a self portrait. This prospect was incredibly exciting to me and I immediately knew what I wanted to do. I used makeup, lighting, and photoshopped on hair to transform myself into the protagonist of my book ‘Idol’, Ivory. I made my eyes very intensely blue, took pink hair off of a model, and photoshopped on intense makeup and higher cheekbones to make myself look like her. We were asked to export the picture at a compression 100, 75, 50, 25, and 0%. Here I have the picture at compressions 100, 50, and 0%. Unfortunately the different compressions did not dramatically change my picture. However, I think I completed the overall objective of the project very well and I am very pleased with my final product.
Multiplicity Project
The multiplicity project had us using Adobe Photoshop to create a scene with multiple characters using only ourselves. For my picture I wanted to highlight what a day in the life of a chronically ill person is like. I took pictures of myself sleeping, taking medication, putting on my walking boot, doing physical therapy, and setting up and doing an infusion I have to get every day to keep my hydration up. I’m really pleased with how this project turned out. Working in Photoshop has been really fun especially because I have previous experience in it and was able to spend more time just enjoying the process. I think I could’ve done a better job not making the picture seem less crowded, however capturing what it feels like to do all these things in a small dorm room was one of the goals of the project and in my opinion doing it in any other space would have made it feel less authentic.
